Integration in Leisure Activities

Integration of People with PDD, with or without Intellectual Disability in Day Camps

Certain prerequisites foster full participation of people with a disability** in leisure activities. These include transportation services, physically adapted environments, being welcomed by the professionals in charge of the services and shadowing.

The Ministère Éducation, Loisir et Sport manages the Program of Facilitated Access to Recreation for People with Disabilities, in collaboration with Sport et Loisir de l’île de Montréal (SLIM-URLS) and the Associations régionales pour le loisir des personnes handicapées (ARLPH). AlterGo, in Montreal, coordinates this program. The subsidy program entitled “Programme d’accompagnement en loisir pour les personnes handicapées” (PACL), aims to fulfill the shadowing needs of individuals with disabilities.
Organizations and municipalities

When a person registers for a leisure activity offered by a Recreation organization of his community or borough, financial aid can be given to the organization to help with the shadowing needs of that person.
